Be My Guest: At Home with the Tastemakers

Pierre Sauvage invites us into the homes of twenty influential tastemakers, offering inspiration from living and dining room interiors to table settings, floral arrangements, and recipes.

The most welcoming homes reflect the personality of the host and beckon guests to sit down and stay for a while among friends. Pierre Sauvage, owner and creative director of the Parisian design firm Casa Lopez, invites the reader to visit some of the world's most talented hosts, who hail from the beauty, fashion, interior design, and art worlds--tastemakers such as Martina Mondadori, Aerin Lauder, Carolina Irving, Jacques Garcia, Linda Pinto, Christian Louboutin, Chahan Minassian, Patrick Perrin, Terry de Gunzburg, Jamie Creel, and Robert Couturier.

Signature details from their chic and stylish interiors are brought into focus in a richly detailed volume featuring photographs of gorgeous art-filled dining rooms, sumptuous floral arrangements, unique furniture, fine tableware, festive tablescapes, and playful garden picnics. With flair and sophistication, exquisite table settings provide the backdrop for favorite recipes selected by each host, including arugula and crab salad, chicken with morel mushrooms, lemon tiramisu, and peach sorbet.

The perfect book for anyone who loves to entertain, Be My Guest will provide endless sources of inspiration and delight.

Reviews

"Gorgeous photographs of homes and feasts coupled with nuggets of entertaining wisdom will make you long to be a guest at the homes in the people featured in the book." —FORBES.COM

"Turning the pages of Pierre Sauvage’s Be My Guest feels something like pulling up a seat at the tables of 20 gracious hosts. Photographer Ambroise Tézenas provides enchanting ambient perspectives on the homes of industry creatives, such as Catherine and Manuel Canovas, Carolina Irving, Robert Couturier, and Martina Mondadori. Notions on the art of entertaining unfurl from inside a cottage in Portugal, a restored château in Normandy, a townhouse in Manhattan, and beyond. But don’t expect an austere entertaining rule book, as these gracious hosts overarchingly abide by the principles of keeping the party simple and the guests at ease. Before bidding adieu, each host shares a choice dish or two for the volume’s humble recipe collection. Because, as Couturier insists, a party must always have a choice of two desserts. Like the book, it’s a satisfyingly sweet take."

“Christmas Eve dinner is an event that I really enjoy preparing every year. Although I am decidedly Latin, the Christmas atmosphere always reminds me of England. I like the idea of a very classic Christmas in red and green. I arranged pewter sets on a green corduroy tablecloth. I created the Holly Table Service especially for the occasion and on the bread plates I painted each guest’s first name. To the left of each plate, crackers have been placed. In the center of the table I arranged blown-glass carafes that I had made in the shape of a tree for the occasion. Winter flowers including hellebores, Mona Lisa, and ranunculus are arranged in cups and mixed with other silver objects like artichokes and fennels. At Christmas, the menu is always easy, since it is often traditional. This year it will be Reblochon cheese pie, dill-cured salmon, and vanilla ice cream with Amarena cherries. I love serving unique, family-friendly, and comforting dishes more than ever.” —GALERIE MAGAZINE.COM
